The Black Forest’s "Most Beautiful“

About 12 kilometers away from the hotel is the second most famous mountain of the Black Forest—“the Belchen” (1415m). The Belchen’s distinct dome-shaped peak resembles the similarly named mountains “Ballon d’Alsace” – Alsace/Vosges and “Belchen” in the Swiss Jura.

Because you can see the entire southern Upper-Rhine valley, the west Alps, the Vosges, the Black Forest Peak, and the Meadow Valley (Wiesental), many people describe the Belchen as having the most beautiful view in the Black Forest.

Aside from the panorama, there is also rare flora and fauna to discover. The Belchen area was set aside in 1949 as a nature protection area, with its total area of about 1600 hectares, making it one of the largest nature protection areas in Baden-Württemberg.

You can also reach the peak very easily with the Belchen cable car, whose yellow eight-person cars were originally manufactured for the EXPO 2000 in Hannover.
